Below are just a handful of examples of some of the things I have done in this area.

Every custom bridal gown begins with a consultation with the bride.

After which I sketch out the agreed to look and swatch fabrics for the bride's

approval.

If necessary this process is used for attendants' gowns as well.

This vintage inspired wedding dress was created for a Spring bride. The tea length gown is made from taffeta fully overlayed with a soft scalloped edge lace. The neckline features a deep V with an inset bit of the same lace. It is softly shirred at the edges. The waistline is accented with gathered lace. A full skirt has a built in crinoline between the skirt and lining. The bolero jacket has elbow length sleeves and finishes at a high waist and has a rounded front edge. It is in a soft ivory which was an extremely popular shade for 2011!

This bride was looking for a going away dress that evoked an Audrey Hepburn feel (think Breakfast at Tiffany's but in ivory rather than black) with the addition of a slightly fuller skirt and a peek-a-boo underskirt. The main body of the dress is satin with a chiffon underskirt and cummerbund set on.

This mother of the bride dress was made from a super lightweight crushed poly "satin" and was lined in a dove grey posh lining. The slightly sweetheart neckline was trimmed with an abstract "floral" braid and pearl trim in ivory as the bride was wearing ivory. The shrug style bolero was added to the dress design as a pre-emptive move against the air conditioning. This was for a late June wedding.

While I have made several flower girl dresses over the years, the one I made for my daughter is the only one I have ANY photos of! And as these are cute of her they don't show off the detail of the dress as well as I would like. So I unpacked the dress from the cedar chest. Unfortunately time (this was 15 years ago!) was not kind to the dress. Even though it was cleaned before I packed it away there was apparently one of those nasty "hidden" stains on the front, so please overlook the discoloration!

The dress was made from faux silk (polyester) in a shantung weave. It is trimmed with hand set Alencon lace and in the center of each flower it was hand beaded with a single pearl set on top of a circle of irridescent clear sequins. The fabric roses were custom constructed and have pearls in the center. The trim was designed to match the bride's gown. The zipper was hand set with prick stitches to minimize the impact of that stitching on the outside of the dress. The double bow on the back is attached with a short wrapped bit of thread so it floats on the left and snaps on the right to facilitate getting in and out of the dress.

This veil was built on the headpiece that was originally the bride's mother's. The pearl work on it had antiqued slightly but was still white enough to work with the bride's white gown. The veil consists of two layers of fine tulle gathered into the back portion of the headpiece. The underlayer is cathedral length, with a top layer that is elbow length in the front, tapering to chapel length in the back. The bride didn't want a blusher so I didn't make one!

This veil was created to highlight the lace on the edge. It was originally a collar belonging to the groom's grandmother. A shoulder length veil was chosen to coordinate with the vintage style garden wedding gown created from English floral lace over taffeta.
